Jakarta

The position of the Minister of Trade (Mendag) has just changed. Now Zulkifli Hasan is the Minister of Trade, replacing Muhammad Lutfi.

After being sworn in by President Joko Widodo as Minister of Trade, Thursday (16/6/2022), the man who is familiarly called Zulhas immediately went to the market. One of the targets is to reduce the price of cooking oil, especially in bulk.

Blusukan to the market has continued in the past week. So, what are the results?

From detikcom’s observation in the Mampang Prapatan market, South Jakarta, the price of bulk cooking oil is approaching HET. Traders at Mampang Prapatan Market sell bulk cooking oil for Rp 15,500 – Rp 16,000 per kilogram.

“If we sell it in kilos. One kilo costs Rp. 15,500,” said Eci, one of the basic necessities traders at Mampang Prapatan Market to detikcom, Friday (6/24/2022).

He explained, there has been a decline in prices in recent weeks. In addition, the supply of cooking oil, which was once hampered, is now starting to return to normal.

At Santa Market, South Jakarta, the price of bulk cooking oil is also approaching HET. Several traders who visited detikcom sold bulk cooking oil for Rp 15,500 per kilogram.

“The price has been going down for a long time. At that time, it was Rp. 18,000, but now it is Rp. 15,500 per kg. If you buy a lot and bring your own jerry cans, it can go down again,” said Asih, a trader at Santa Market.

Another trader at Santa Market, Anto also gave the same explanation. He said the price of bulk migration had fallen in the last few weeks.

Anto said that there was no panic buying like what happened in the past.

“Now it’s calmed down a bit. In the past, people bought a lot of oil immediately. But now it’s starting to run out,” he said.

Meanwhile, the price of packaged cooking oil fell by around Rp. 3 thousand – Rp. 5 thousand. According to Anto, this decline occurred in the past two weeks.

“Not only the bulk, the packaging has also decreased. Now the 2 liter Sunco is Rp. 47,000, before it was Rp. 50,000,” he said.

He added that almost all packaged cooking oil fell in price. This includes 1 liter packs. Migor 1 liter packaging which was previously sold for Rp. 27 thousand is now only priced at Rp. 24 thousand.
