In 1997, Will Smith taught us that "good guys dress in black" before encouraging us to remember it, because information would surely come in handy one day. For fans of the New York Jets, that day is today.
The New York Jets will take the field against the Cleveland Browns this Monday evening wearing their brand new black-and-white uniforms ("Stealth Black" as the team calls it). The Jets unveiled the all-black appearance as part of their renewed logo and their uniform during an event at Gotham Hall in New York in April 2019.
Black tops with green accents on the shoulders, giant white numbers finished in green on each shoulder, front and back, "NEW YORK" in bold italics on the chest. Socks, pants and shoes are also black with a single green strip along the side of each trouser leg.
Helmets? Green. Mask, black.
It is the first time in eight years that the New York Jets wear a different color from green or white, in 2011 the Jets wore navy blue and the return of gold to their days as New York Titans of the American Football League. Until tonight, the Jets had never worn a black uniform in the nearly 60 seasons of franchise history.
