Indeed, the Nigerian Mohamed Moussa was re-elected in the first round, by 10 votes out of 18 for a second term at the head of the pan-African institution. His election was made after a secret ballot supervised by the committee of ministers of Asecna. He thus continues for a new mandate of four (4) years renewable once and which will take effect from January 01, 2021.
All the candidates for election to the post of director general of the agency were interviewed during this session. Favorite candidate for his succession, Mouhamed Moussa faced adversaries that he had succeeded in crushing diplomatically.
The Mauritanian candidate Hassen Ould Ely, former general manager of the Compagnie Mauritania Airlines International, obtained 3 votes. For his part, the Cameroonian candidate Zoa Etoundi collected 3 of the 18 votes. As for the Central African Théodore Jousso, he received 2 votes. With the renewal of the Nigerien, West Africa takes back control of the institution, which has been run for twenty years by West African experts.
