The specialists of the European Space Agency (ESA) have begun to prepare for the new lunar missions. It is reported that now the astronauts are training to use the tools and electronics, which will have to work on the moon.
It turned out that it is not as easy as it seems.
To conduct comprehensive tests, ESA has opened Pangea-X, whose managers will develop space exploration programs. As part of the new tests, future astronauts will learn to use modern equipment and conduct geological experiments.
New space suits will also be developed for the new missions.
They are similar to those worn by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. They hold down the movement, not allowing pilots to squat and bend, and thick sealed gloves do not allow you to firmly grasp small objects. Learning to use equipment in awkward costumes is one of the main tasks of the researchers, – explained the NASA presented.
Since the ESA does not have its own lunar space suits, the NASA suits are used for training. They are equipped with 360-degree cameras that capture everything that happens in real time.
For convenience, astronauts have an e-book to record the search results. The tests are conducted on the surface of the volcanoes in order to bring the experimental conditions closer to the lunar realities.
