Prosecutors have accused Riza of receiving a total of $ 248 million as a result of misappropriation of 1MDB funds.

Riza has pleaded not guilty to all the charges. Each charge carries a financial penalty of up to five million ringgits (1.21 million dollars), a maximum prison sentence of five years or both.

The court granted Riza's bail to a million ringgit and asked him to hand over his passports.

After unexpectedly losing an election to Mahathir Mohamad in May last year, Najib was slapped with a series of corruption charges, mostly related to the losses of the now defunct 1MDB.

Najib, who founded 1MDB in 2009, has to face 42 criminal charges related to large losses of the fund and other state entities. He pleaded not guilty and constantly denied having made a mistake.

The US Department of Justice has estimated that a total of $ 4.5 billion has been stolen by high-level officials at 1MDB and their associates between 2009 and 2014.

1MDB has been examined in at least six countries for alleged money laundering and transplantation.

US prosecutors said Red Granite has funded three films using funds they suspect were stolen from the MBB.

Red Granite paid the US government $ 60 million in September 2017 to resolve a request for civil forfeiture on the rights to The Wall Street wolf.
