Karol G has won the award for best album of the year in the Latin Grammy, which were delivered this Thursday in Seville. It has been a night of glory for Colombian music and also a night of revenge for both her and Shakira, the other winner of the gala.
It has also been the consecration of reggaeton after years of being away from the main Latin music awards. The award for best album of the year is the most important of the night and never before has an artist of this genre even touched the possibility of achieving what Karol G has achieved in Seville.
And, above all, it has been a night almost monopolized by female artists.
Tomorrow will be nice ofKarol G, an album conceived and created after his romantic breakup with singer Anuel AA, also won the award for best urban music album. Karol G received it laughing and summarizing the paradigm shift that has occurred in reggaeton in recent years: “I can’t believe that a girl has the best urban music album,” she exclaimed from the stage. She was also awarded in the best urban fusion/performance category for her spite alliance with Shakira, TQG.
Shakira also takes home three awards. She has received all three for songs in which she participates as a collaborator: best song of the year and best pop song for the Bzrp Session 53 from Bizarrap, in addition to the award for TQG.
