The UN emergencies director declared this Friday that “the extent” of the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the floods in eastern Libya is still unknown.
“I think the problem for us in Libya is, of course, coordinating our efforts with the government, and then with the other authorities in the east of the country,” Martin Griffiths said at a news conference in Geneva.
“We do not know the extent” of the tragedy, “the level of needs, the number of deaths is still unknown”he added.
Floods in Libya have killed thousands of people in their worst natural disaster in modern history were due to the collision of “climate and capacity,” the United Nations aid chief said, according to Reuters.
