The White House has condemned the words of Elon Muskowner of social media platform an “abhorrent promotion” of anti-Semitism. Referring to a post by Musk on X, formerly called Twitter, in which rback an antisemitic conspiracy theoryWhite House spokesman Andrew Bates said it was “unacceptable” to repeat such a “dreadful lie”.
“We condemn in the strongest terms this abhorrent promotion of anti-Semitic and racist hatred, which runs counter to our fundamental values as Americans,” Bates said.
“We all have the responsibility to unite people against hate and the obligation to speak out against anyone who attacks the dignity of their fellow Americans and compromises the safety of our communities,” he added.
The reaction from the White House referred to a publication by Musk in which the controversial Tesla and SpaceX magnate rresponded to an anti-Semitic publication in X with the words: “You have told the real truth”.
The White House and several American media have interpreted the original publication as a reference to a ancient conspiracy theory among white supremacists that Jews have a secret plan to bring illegal immigrants in order to weaken the white majorities.
