The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) foresees during the weekend eight million trips coinciding with the Special Operation on August 1, which starts this friday and will remain open until 24 hours on next Tuesday.
During August, considered the year with the highest movement of road vehicles, it is expected to exceed the 49.3 million tripsaccording to data from the DGT.
These days will coincide on the road with the movements of vehicles generated by the beginning of the holiday month of August, long-distance journeys in the direction of departure from large urban centers, with those returning from those who finish their July holidays, together, in addition, to the usual departure/return trips for the weekend of the summer period.
For this reason, during these days Tráfico has established a series of measures to regulate, organize and monitor traffic in order to provide security coverage for the millions of short and long-haul journeys planned.
The forecasts contemplate that the largest increase in vehicles will take place on Friday afternoonmainly between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., which will cause high intensities and traffic problems at the exits of large cities, as well as in the main communication routes for access to coastal tourist and rest areas.
