Apple, Microsoft or rather Saudi Aramco? A new ranking shows which company is currently the most valuable in the world.
- PWC’s current ranking shows which companies are currently the most valuable.
- Many were able to assert themselves better in the crisis than smaller companies.
- Swiss companies top the European ranking.
The 100 most valuable listed companies suffered from the crisis: their market capital shrank by 15 percent from the beginning of January to the end of March to $ 21.5 trillion, as the consulting firm PWC writes. In comparison to smaller companies in the respective branches, the largest companies got off relatively lightly. The top 100 are still slightly up within a year.
Saudi Aramco is new to the list after the company went public in December 2019. It was the largest IPO in history. Accordingly, the Saudi oil company was able to overtake heavyweights such as Microsoft, Apple and Amazon. The most valuable 40 companies on the PWC list can be seen in the photo gallery:
Switzerland is also included in the ranking. Nestlé ranks 13th with $ 306 billion in capital, making it the most valuable company in Europe. The top 10 in Europe is here im Video above.
Companies whose shares are publicly traded were taken into account for the ranking. PWC did not take currency fluctuations into account, but calculated all market capitalizations based on the share prices in dollars.
