The detainee is Álvaro CA, alias ‘Alvarito’, and he was captured in the Rioverde canton, in the Esmeraldas province, northwest of Ecuador.
The Minister of Government of Ecuador, Patricio Pazmiño, reported this Wednesday that they arrested a person, allegedly involved in the murder of television presenter Efraín Ruales, which shocked the country at the end of January.
Pazmiño specified that the detainee is Álvaro CA, alias ‘Alvarito’, and was captured in the Rioverde canton, in the Esmeraldas province, northwest of Ecuador.
The man, added the head of the Ministry of Government, he had an arrest warrant for the crime against Ruales.
Ruales was assassinated on January 27, while he was traveling in his vehicle along Guillermo Cubillo Avenue, in the north of Guayaquil, Guayas province, where he lived.
A day later, Minister Pazmiño reported that three bullet holes were found in Ruales’ car. In addition, he detailed that, according to the autopsy, the presenter’s death was caused by massive internal bleeding, “caused by the impact of a projectile that entered through the left intercostal and injured several organs.”
In addition to the capture of alias ‘Alvarito’, the authorities have reported on other advances in the investigation, such as the discovery of the vehicle in which they presume the murderers were traveling, which was found the same night of the crime in the south of Guayaquil, incinerated inside.
Last Monday, on the other hand, it was known that a weapon was found in the Isla Trinitaria sector, in the Estero Salado, in the south of Guayaquil, which allegedly would have been the one used in the crime against the famous presenter.
Ruales, 36, denounced in June 2020 having received threats for reporting on corruption cases in the country.
