As El Marplatense advanced, died the patient with coronavirus who was transferred from Mar del Plata to Buenos Aires in a medical plane due to lack of available beds on the premises of the General Hospital Interzonal de Agudos “Dr. Oscar E. Alende”.
After this death, the councilor of the UCR, Marianela romero, presented a communication project with the Objective for the Buenos Aires government to provide details on the availability of beds and respirators in the public and private health system of the General Pueyrredon Party.
In the initiative, to which The Marplatense had access, the mayor referred to “the need to have adequate information on the functioning of the health system in the framework of the Covid-19 pandemic ”in Mar del Plata.
In that sense, he stressed that “the emergence of the Covid-19 virus has caused a significant increase in the demand for care from both public and private health centers around the world, reaching in some cases the collapse of the health system.” And he highlighted: “the main problem that hospitals have to endure is the increase in the occupancy of their beds, particularly in intensive care units”.
Then, Romero said that “in order to carry out coordinated actions to respond to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is important to have adequate information on the operation of the health system in the General Pueyrredon Party.”
In this sense, the radical mayor stressed that “andIt is necessary to have information on the number of hospital beds in the Party’s health system, both in public and private establishments.”.
“The different hospitals, clinics and sanatoriums report the number of occupied Covid-19 beds, but there is no information on the total number of beds available. Likewise, this information is provided in an isolated manner by each of the institutions, especially through their social networks, without there being a unified communication channel, ”he highlighted.
Finally, the mayor stated that “lThe VIII Health Region is the competent body to coordinate and supervise health care in both provincial hospitals and private clinics of the General Pueyrredon Party”. “In order to achieve efficiency in the management of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is essential that the availability of beds in the public and private health system be transparent,” Romero said.
In the project, the mayor asks the Health Region VIII, dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires, to report:
-Quantity of operational intensive therapy beds in public and private health establishments, detailing each institution of the General Pueyrredon party.
