Aranda de Duero (Burgos), May 27 (EFE) .- The platform “Rural Health” has called an online demonstration for June 20 in order to resume the demand for decent and quality rural health in Castilla y León.
The platform has appealed to different groups in Castilla y León and citizens in general to join “this call to action,” as explained in a press release.
The initiative aims to collect photos with protest messages against the new health care model in rural Castilla y León and will be broadcast in a video on social networks that will be posted on June 20 at 6:00 p.m.
For this they have created the website www.sanidadrural.es, where they have posted a protest manifesto urging to support it with signatures and send the images with the claims by email and thus achieve a large virtual demonstration.
The promoters indicate that the pandemic has forced to convene for the first time this online concentration to recover the protest against the continuous sanitary deficiencies in rural areas.
A few months ago they managed to mobilize the Burgos town of Guzmán, who made a series of short silent film videos go viral, making fun of the health situation; now they want the demonstration to be “a great opportunity to create an associative fabric in rural areas,” they say in the statement.
The claims that the platform sets out in the manifesto focus on recovering the figure of the medical office and providing it with greater resources, as well as claiming an improvement in emergency services and avoiding the creation of the “health volunteer”, because in their opinion “they would abandon completely the professional health services in the towns, leaving them to the good will of the neighbors, “they say.
They also request to avoid the centralization of material and professional resources in group clinics or by appointment, to maintain fixed consultations scheduled in local clinics and to avoid unnecessary population movements.
“With the coronavirus crisis we have realized that without medical consultation in the town we are already less than a zero to the left,” says Rosa Guillén, a neighbor of Guzmán and one of the promoters of this online protest. EFE
