The Taliban have announced the release of a woman who has been held locked up for 25 years in a room with a single window and without power in the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, before indicating that several relatives have been detained.

The Afghan Ministry of the Interior has indicated in a message on its account on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, that “the woman spent 25 years of her youth locked by her brother in a dark room“.

Thus, he explained that “all the routes to it were blocked, except for a small window”, through which he received food.

The Taliban have also published a video of the woman after the rescue and images of the room, in which you can see large mountains of garbage and food scraps.

The spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of the Interior, Abdulmatin Qani, has indicated that the woman “feels unsafe and is afraid when she sees other people,” before adding that She has been admitted to a hospital in Kabul.
