Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli had a meeting with the Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu first, the curfew, which will be implemented for the second time this weekend. In the meeting, it was stated that there were no problems in food supply or production in the agriculture and livestock sector, farmers, producers and food sector engaged in agricultural and animal activities were included in the group exempted from the curfew.
Minister Pakdemirli explained the groups included in the curfew exemption as follows:
“Those who work in the units of the groups with short shelf life and deteriorate (meat, fish, fruits and vegetables, milk and dairy products) and those working in the flour and pasta sector will be able to continue their weekend production. In order to avoid any problems in the retail sector, after 18:00 on Sunday evening, the warehouses and the stores, goods acceptance units will be open. Those who work here will not have problems in accessing their workplaces. As in the past week, our veterinarians will be out of the two-day curfew, which will be implemented over the weekend. In the provinces and districts and villages, they will not have a problem in accessing our producers and feeders. Clinic, polyclinic, hospitals and private institutions that provide veterinary services and employees of our veterinarians will be able to continue to provide services at the weekend. A group that will be covered by the curfew, which will be applied at the weekend, and the exceptional scope of the circular, is our farmers in the production of Agriculture and Livestock. These citizens will be able to continue their production without disruption. Similarly, the coordination of our Seasonal Workers has been given to our provincial governors. Hygiene and health importance are followed by the provincial and district pandemic boards. We also continue to take measures for housing and other needs. ”
Pakdemirli also stated that due diligence will be shown to ensure that production is not interrupted, but if there is any problem in the places where the producers or veterinarians are present, they can apply to the Civil Authorities (District Governorship, Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, District Directorates).
Minister Pakdemirli stated that while taking every precaution against the Kovid-19 epidemic, Agriculture and Livestock activities continue without interruption, “We know that there is nothing we cannot overcome as we go hand in hand.
