Three Russian wounded in the gas explosion in Germany
In Germany, three Russian participants in the international Future Spaces project, arrived from Krasnoyarsk, were injured in a gas cylinder explosion. This is stated in communication "Interra" public organization.
The accident occurred on the evening of Sunday 18 August, in a pension in the town of Hitzacker. A gas cylinder exploded due to a leak. One of the coordinators, 24-year-old Nikolai Bakhalkhanov, and a member of the Russian group, 18-year-old Alexander Yurchenko, were in the immediate vicinity of the explosion. Following the accident, Bakhalkhanov received a burn of 50% of the body surface, Yurchenko – 22%. The injured were delivered by helicopter to medical facilities in Hamburg, the rest of the victims received psychological assistance. One program participant from Tanzania was also slightly injured; he was taken to a local hospital.
According to a public organization, the Russians are now in a stable state, nothing threatens their lives. According to preliminary information, they will remain for treatment in Germany for several weeks and then return home.
Future Spaces is an international program for young people aged between 18 and 26 from Russia, Germany and Tanzania, which will take place from 12 to 30 August. Participants in an educational project explore urban spaces and share experiences. Interra is one of the organizers of the project.
