TikTok works on customizable 3D avatars

The TikTok social network is working on a series of new features, including 3D avatars that users can customize through the camera or the option to create group chats and invite other people through links.

Social media consultant Matt Navarra warned about several features that TikTok is working on through mentions in the application code, with six new features that are currently not present on the platform.

The first of the features is 3D avatars, with which TikTok users can take a selfie through the smartphone camera for facial expression, while other elements can be changed manually with an editor.

Among the features that TikTok is preparing are also group chats, not currently available on the platform, but for which the social network is preparing an invitation system through links.

To give more options to customize the publication feed, TikTok is also working on the possibility that users choose a series of terms so that they are filtered and videos that contain them are not shown in their description, nor in the suggested stickers.

The social network is also considering joining the rest of the platforms and is preparing a live audio function, which could operate in a similar way to Clubhouse or Twitter Spaces.

Live broadcasts can gain more options with another of the novelties detected by Navarra: screen sharing. TikTok reports in the code that “screen sharing allows viewers to see the screen in real time, including the camera, audio, notifications, and other alerts.”

The last of the novelties in which TikTok works, paid subscriptions to creators, has already been announced since last week, with a similar operation to that of other platforms that have already enabled it, such as Twitter and Instagram.

Paid subscriptions to creators entitle users to access exclusive emotes from the social network, as well as comments only for subscribers, as Navarra has now warned. The social network settings menu also refers to subscriptions to live content.
