KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that all areas of DKI Jakarta have the potential to rain with heavy intensity on February 23-24, 2021. For this reason, residents remain alert to potential flooding.
“Rain intensity tends to weaken to low intensity until February 22nd, and will increase back to rain with moderate to high intensity on February 23 to 24,” said BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati on the official website of BMKG.
So, Dwikorita said, there is still need to increase awareness of the potential for heavy rain which could potentially trigger floods and landslides in the DKI Jakarta area on Tuesday (23/2) tomorrow and Wednesday (24/2).
“Generally, rain occurs at night until dawn and continues until morning. These are critical times and need to be watched out for,” said Dwikorita.
Previously, based on data collected by BMKG, the highest rainfall on February 18-19 occurred in Pasar Minggu reaching 226 mm / day, then at Sunter Hulu 197 mm / day, Lebak Bulus 154 mm / day, and Halim 176 mm / day.
Currently, the Jabodetabek area is still in the peak of the rainy season. BMKG estimates, the peak of the rainy season will still take place at the end of February to early March 2021.
