Trade Conflict Agreement: US and Canada abolish steel and aluminum tariffs

The US and Canada have settled their trade dispute over steel and aluminum tariffs. The Government of Canada issued a joint statement by both countries stating that the mutual tariffs on steel and aluminum products will be lifted within 48 hours.

US President Donald Trump issued special tariffs on products from neighboring Canada and Mexico on 1 June 2018 with reference to US national security. Canada had reacted with retaliatory tariffs. Both are now obsolete. According to the White House, Trump wanted to comment on Friday.

In addition to the waiver of tariffs, the two countries also agreed to settle all litigation in the matter. In addition, they want to act effectively against transit steel, which comes from China, for example, and is passed on to the other country.
