One day after most of the Premier League clubs started, English football champions Manchester United resumed training. Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team prepared for the continuation of the season on Wednesday, which was interrupted by the corona pandemic.
The 20 teams had been allowed to train again since Tuesday – in small groups, observing the distance rules. All clubs have also tested players and officials for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the past few days. A total of 748 people were tested on Sunday and Monday, the Premier League said on Tuesday. There were six people who tested positive for Corona.
Solskjaer recently reported that his players were equipped with GPS transmitters to evaluate their training performance. “I think the GPS has inspired and motivated some to do a little more,” said the Man United coach.
The UK government had recently cleared the way for league operations to continue. This requires strict safety precautions and the number of people infected with corona in England must not rise again. So far, a restart of the league on June 12 was considered likely. According to media reports, this could be delayed by another week.
