BBulldozer dealer Travis Perkins could offload his DIY Wickes chain as part of plans to focus on commercial customers in a company review that also includes a sale of his plumbing and heating division.

In a stock market announcement in view of a meeting of analysts, Travis Perkins said he is running a "significant cost reduction program" at Wickes, while "he is trying to review options to maximize the value of Wickes in the medium term". It is understood that one of these options is a sale.

Wickes suffered from declining sales as it faced the intense competition of rival B & Q and a steady decline in the broader do-it-yourself market that dragged profits to its consumer division ….
