The UK has recorded an additional 288 deaths of people infected in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths resulting from the covid-19 pandemic to 28,734, Health Minister Matt Hancock announced today.
“This number [variação diária] is the lowest since the end of March, but these numbers tend to be lower over the weekend, so we are expecting it to go up [nos próximos dias]”, He warned.
3,985 new cases of contagion were also identified, for 190,584, added Hancock, who said 13,258 people remain hospitalized.
Data on the deaths were collected until 17:00 the day before, but the number of tests includes those carried out until 09:00 today.
Since last week, this balance has included deaths outside hospitals, such as nursing homes.
