Ukrainian war refugees in Latvia will be assigned a personal identification number

Ukraine civilians who have arrived in Latvia will be registered in the Register of Natural Persons as beneficiaries of temporary protection and will be assigned a personal identification code, on Tuesday, March 29, decided Cabinet of Ministers.

The government on Tuesday adopted amendments to the regulations on the information needed to provide support to the Ukrainian civilian population.

The amendments stipulate that in the municipal administrative territory, the civil protection commission will be able to coordinate the provision of support through joint state and municipal customer service centers or municipal customer service structural units.

In turn, changes in the Law on Support for Civilians of Ukraine stipulate that Ukrainian civilians will be registered in the Register of Natural Persons as beneficiaries of temporary protection and will be assigned a personal identification code.

It is already reported that on March 3 Saeima adopted a law on the support of the civilian population of Ukraine, which was recognized as urgent.

It was adopted to provide support to Ukrainian citizens and their family members who are leaving Ukraine or who cannot return to Ukraine. Russia armed conflict and the provision of general support to Ukrainian society.

Since the beginning of the war, 6,293 people have been housed in Ukraine through municipal civil protection commissions.

8968 Ukrainian civilians have received residence documents with the right to employment.
