Unique Bronze Age burial mound with garlands around it discovered in Melsele

About 1,100 burial circles are known for all of Flanders, says the archaeologist. This is the 39th for the Waasland. Not really exceptional, but the special thing in Melsele are the pole wreaths: “There are only about 10 examples of this. And such a pole wreath can often be found in combination with a moat, but here too it is different and there are only the 3 rows of piles, which is also extra exceptional for Flanders.”
