The United States has given Ukraine nearly 1.1 million rounds of 7.62 millimeter caliber artillery seized from Iranian forces in December 2022, as reported by the US Central Command (Centcom).

The delivery took place this Monday and, according to the statement, the US Executive had taken ownership of that ammunition on July 20, 2023. Those artillery rounds were confiscated by Centcom naval forces on December 9, 2022.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was transferring them to the Houthis in Yemen in violation of United Nations Security Council resolution 2216.

The Centcom statement said Washington is committed to working with its allies and partners “to counter the flow of lethal Iranian aid in the region by all legal means, including US and UN sanctions and through bans.”

“Iran’s support for armed groups threatens international and regional security, our forces, diplomatic staff and citizens of the region, as well as our partners. We will continue to do everything we can to shed light on Iran’s destabilizing activities. Iran and stop them,” said that note.
