An American soldier who ran across the North Korean border in July “admitted that he had trespassed“said Wednesday the North Korean state news agency KCNA.
This is the first public reaction of North Korea about the case of soldier Travis King, who according to the press is 23 years old.
“According to an investigation by a relevant DPRK body, Travis King admitted that he entered the territory of the DPRK illegally,” the KCNA news agency said, using the acronym of North Korea’s official name.
“During the investigation, Travis King confessed that he had decided to come to the DPRK (People’s Republic of North Korea) because he had resentment for the inhumane abuse and racial discrimination within the US military,” he added.
King was to return to USA and face disciplinary action, after being involved in a bar fight, getting into an altercation with police and spending brief time in jail in South Korea.
