France won the Nations League in volleyball by beating the United States in the final tonight in Bologna with a score of 3-2 (25-16, 25-19, 15-25, 21-25, 15-10). The reigning Olympic champions, led by Andrea Giani, yesterday defeated Italy 3-0 in the semifinals.
Leading 2-0 with an arrembante start, the transalpines, however, gave the Americans the next two sets (the first lost in this final phase of the tournament, before winning thanks to the tie break. Top scorer of the match was the spiker from Modena Earvin Ngapeth (22 points), elected mvp and who is now preparing to drag the French to the world title in the tournament scheduled between the end of August and September.
