The Monkees released their first Christmas album in early October and have just released a video for the melody of Andy Partridge "Unwrap You At Christmas" to promote it. Show the group as figures in a comic book created by illustrator Michael Allred. Fans of the old-school group will recognize the elements of their sixties television sitcom, including their Mr. Schneider dummy and the Jiffy IQ Test which claimed that Peter Tork had "total stupidity".
Christmas party presents a mix of songs written only for the album along with classics like "Wonderful Christmastime", "Silver Bells" and "Angels We Have Heard On High". Everyone from Rivers Cuomo to writer Michael Chabon and Peter Buck of REM have contributed melodies and all three surviving members of the Monkees sing about it. It also features two vintage recordings of the late Davy Jones.
Michael Nesmith and Micky Dolenz finished their 2018 Mike and Micky Show tour prematurely when Nesmith requested quadruple bypass surgery, but has now fully recovered and are returning to the road in March 2019. Peter Tork will be sitting outside the tour again. Micky Dolenz recently said Rolling Stone that Tork was facing unspecified "health problems".
"While it is true that my health has required a little more attention these days, I feel pretty good" Tork wrote on Facebook in October. "I'm also enjoying this time with family and friends and making music. Keep your eyes open for some possible web concerts with friends and other musicians; we'll see what comes down from the pipeline. For the rest, thanks for your best wishes. This is a private moment and I will not publish updates ".
Before the start of the Monkees tour, Michael Nesmith will play a short solo tour in which he will play his 1972 album and Successes continue to come in its entirety. Contrary to his ironic title, the album had no real successes. It has, however, become a cult favorite among Nesmith fanatics.
