The first points in the championship are celebrated by the players of Australia. In the match against Tunisia, a single goal was enough for them to win three points, which was taken care of by forward Mitchell Duke in the 23rd minute, who in a difficult position, elusively aimed at the back post. The Tunisians tried to do something about the result for the rest of the match, but even the final rush did not change the result.
In the number of points, Australia equaled first place France, which, however, still has its match against Denmark to go. On the contrary, Tunisia continues to be stuck in the last place of the table and progress to the elimination part of the championship has become significantly more complicated.
Poland is at the head of the group, the Saudis did not score a goal
The first three points in the table are attributed to the Polish national team. In the end, Piotr Zieliňski took care of the only goal of the first half against Saudi Arabia, who hit the goalkeeper with a shot under the crossbar. A few minutes later, Saudi Arabia was playing a penalty kick, the Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was able to eliminate it, and then he managed to save it.
The Saudis scored chances in the second half as well, but they couldn’t find the recipe for the goalkeeper again. Poland, on the other hand, shot twice into the goal structure, but they did not have to regret it, because at the end of the game Robert Lewandowski sealed the victory for 2:0.
The French celebrate advancing to the round of 16
In the match against Denmark, the French wanted to secure their place in the knockout stages, which they finally succeeded in after a tense match, and they are certain of the play-offs before the final group match against Tunisia.
But the victory did not come easily. In the first half, Adrien Rabiot, Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappé got their chances, but in no case could they find a recipe for goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. It only happened after an hour of play, when the talented Mbappé made his mark after a great performance and the joy in the French camp could fully erupt.
But the geyser of celebrations did not last long, seven minutes later Danish defender Andreas Christensen was able to equalize. The final word was nevertheless taken by the twenty-three-year-old playboy Mbappé, who beat Schmeichel for the second time at the back post and gave the French national team three points and promotion from the group.
Messi steered Argentina to an important win
After the sensational defeat against Saudi Arabia, Argentina did not commit another embarrassment in the match against Mexico. Although the South Americans struggled for a long time in Lusail, Lionel Messi opened the scoring after an hour of play, and the star captain then set up a second goal for substitute Enzo Fernández in the 87th minute.
The champions of the South American Championship in Group C scored for the first time and stayed in the game for the round of 16. The Mexicans have a single point for a 0:0 draw with Poland, they did not win or score for the fourth time in a row at the World Cup. On Wednesday, the Argentines will finish the opening part of the tournament against Poland, while Mexico will face three-point Saudi Arabia in a parallel match.
