Western Digital’s My Cloud service to resume after hacker attack May 15

At the end of March, it became known about the disruption of Western Digital Corporation’s corporate information systems as a result of a hacker attack. Attackers gained control over some of these systems and stole data, demonstrating some of them in open sources not so long ago. It took more than a month for WDC to restore the work of the cloud storage service My Cloud, as noted by Reuters. Customer access to this service will be resumed from May 15.

The company did not stop deliveries of hard drives and solid state drives as a result of this hacker attack, but some of the cloud service customers suffered due to the leakage of their personal data, including phone numbers and fragments of bank card numbers. The company is already contacting the victims to minimize possible damage. According to unofficial data, the attackers demanded tens of millions of dollars in ransom, but judging by the activity of the WDC, it did not make a deal with them.
