what emerges from the past of the Democratic Party – Libero Quotidiano

Legambiente has kept the account. From January to September 2022 Italy has already been hit by 62 floods (including floods from intense rains), compared to 88 in the whole of 2021. Which, it must be said, does not even demonstrate a great trend towards progression. But experts assure us that extreme events are on the rise and we take it for granted. Blame it on climate change?
Here we would have to discuss, but let’s pretend that it is conclusively proven that in the long run global warming favors these phenomena. How long? Nobody knows. And obviously no one knows in what time frame a U-turn could be achieved.
To be clear: even if today we have to close all factories, give up all appliances and stop traveling by motor vehicles, provided that this blocks the temperature increase or even decreases it, it is very unlikely that tomorrow floods will suddenly stop. tropical plants and water bombs.

TEMPORAL – The question at this point, faced with what happened in the Marche region, is: is it better to fight the storms (of an unspecified future) or to avoid floods (today)?
In the first case, leftists and environmentalists are right to take it out on those who believe that the ecological transition must be conducted with pragmatism and common sense, without dangerous accelerations (such as those we are now paying for on energy supply). In the second, however, the main culprits of the damage caused by the flood are them, the Taliban of ecology and the green revolution, who want us to believe that to save the territories from natural disasters it is better to go by electric car, abolish jets and not use plastic than to build the Misa creek expansion and clean the river bed.
This must have been the reason why the two Piddini presidents of the Region, Gian Mario Spacca (2005-2015) and Luca Ceriscioli (2015-2020) decided not to do so, despite the government led by Matteo Renzi, as said yesterday. the same leader of Italia Viva, in 2014 (after the Senigallia flood) had put on the table as many as 45 million for a project that was reported as “urgent and priority” in some reports of 2009.
And it will be for the same reasons that the government majorities with the Democratic Party and Grillini have not been able, since 2017, to authorize the National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change. “It is ready”, says the CNR climate taxman, Antonello Pasini, “if it were in operation it would unlock the municipal plans, the ones that are really needed in the event of extreme phenomena, because after the Civil Protection alert only the mayor can know where Act”.

whatever – Trivia for the secretary dem Enrico Letta, who in front of the dead in the Marches took care first of all to accuse the center-right of “climate denial”, recalling the vote against in June in the European Parliament on Fitfor55. And then he explained that “we need to reduce emissions to avoid tragedies like this”. As if abolishing petrol cars from 2035 could solve the problem of hydrogeological instability in Italy.
The logic of the Democratic Party and the green ultras, on the other hand, is also clearly visible in the crazy distribution of the PNRR resources imposed by the EU. There are 8.4 billion allocated to secure the territory, it has been said in recent days. True. However, it is forgotten that a total of about 70 billion out of the 235 total are allocated to mission 2 of the Recovery, green revolution and ecological transition, of which 60 from the NRRR, 1.3 from the React Eu program and 9.16 from the complementary fund.
The resources are divided into four components, which define the different areas of intervention. 7 billion are allocated to sustainable agriculture and the circular economy, 18.22 billion to renewable energy, hydrogen and sustainable mobility, 29.55 billion to energy efficiency and building renovation. And finally we come to the item “Protection of the territory and water resource”, which has a dowry of 15.03 billion. Of which, however, about 5 are destined to reduce the losses of the water network (another issue of which environmentalists in constant alarm for the scarcity of water are not interested).
In other words, the same resources (8.5 billion) are allocated to the safety of rivers, lakes and reservoirs and to the control of the soil that are used to create cycle paths, trolley buses and cableways to move around in an environmentally friendly way. Once we have left the car at home, the floods will not be there anymore.
