JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Residents of RT 007 RW 014 Cipinang Muara, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, could not sleep well on Sunday (26/6/2022) early in the morning.
Because, a young man with the initials N (16) was caught burning down the house rent in the area.
N was then taken to the RW 014 Cipinang Muara Office to avoid the residents’ anger.
When interrogated, N admitted that he was paid Rp. 150,000 to burn a number of houses in RT 007 RW 014 Cipinang Muara.
N admitted that he was given money and told by a man with the initials J to burn the targeted house.
“The person said, ‘Can I ask for help or not?’ He said he wanted to burn down the house,” said N when asked by reporters.
N admitted that he had burned down two houses using matches and kerosene.
“I am promised paid IDR 150,000, which is already done burn two houses,” said N.
N admitted to doing it in a conscious state or not drunk.
“Because those who asked for help were not happy (with the houses of the people who were targeted), I promised paid Rp. 150,000,” said N.
Police reveal real motive
Police have yet to find anyone who provoked or ordered N to burn down the house.
“We are still investigating whether it is true that there are initials J (who ordered N to burn residents’ houses), we are still investigating,” said Head of the Jatinegara Sector Police (Kapolsek) Kompol Entong Raharja at a press conference, Monday (27/6/2022).
Entong said that N actually burned the rented house out of revenge after being reprimanded by residents several times.
N is noisy because he often plays guitar when people are resting at night.
“At night, (the perpetrator) plays guitar in his rented house so that the environment or local residents and their neighbors feel disturbed by the noise,” said Entong.
“The owner of the house (rented) on behalf of Marfuah did not accept it, finally the perpetrators were reprimanded every night, reminded,” said Entong.
In the early hours of Sunday, N decided to set fire to Marfuah’s rented house which he also lived in.
“N did not accept the warning, he ended up burning it,” said Entong.
The perpetrator’s psyche is examined
Entong said that his party would also check the mental state of N.
“We will definitely check his soul,” said Entong.
In a separate interview, the landlord and brother of Marfuah, Wiwin, said that residents were suspicious of N.’s behavior.
The rented house is owned by Wiwin and Marfuah’s brothers and sisters.
Residents suspect that N is the perpetrator in connection with fire incidents that often occur in the area of RT 007 RW 014 Cipinang Muara recently.
“So this is an accumulation of suspicion, not accusations. Behind there was an incident (fire), and next door. When there was a fire, the perpetrator was always at the location,” said Wiwin at the location, Monday yesterday.
The perpetrator’s wife and baby were evicted by residents
N, who works as a busker, is now in prison.
In addition, his wife and newborn baby were also evicted by local residents.
“(Yes), he was expelled. It means that his wife and child no longer live there,” said Entong.
N was named a suspect and charged with Article 187 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) concerning Crimes Endangering Public Security with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.
