Some people experience more severe Covid-19 and have difficulty breathing
Nationalgeographic.co.id—The SARS-CoV-2 virus infects through the nose and throat, or nasopharynx. A recent study revealed that the first response when the virus infects, researchers can determine how severe the impact. They can determine who will experience severe illness and who will survive with mild disease or no symptoms at all. The results of the study have been published in Jurnal Cell on July 22, 2021.
Collaborator team at Boston Children’s Hospital, MIT and the University of Mississippi Medical Center have comprehensively mapped SARS-CoV-2 infection in the nasopharynx. The goal. to get a detailed picture of what is happening in the nasopharynx.
“Why some people get sicker than others has been one of the most puzzling aspects of this virus since its inception,” said Jose Ordovas-Montanes., PhD, of Boston Children’s.
Many studies, he said again, look for risk predictors by examining blood beforehand. “But blood may not be the right place to study,” he said.
