Williams F1 Team boss does not travel to Turkey after COVID-19 positive

Williams F1 Team confirmed that their team boss, Simon Roberts, tested positive for COVID-19 before traveling to Istanbul for this weekend’s Turkish Grand Prix.

The British manager tested negative on Monday during the team’s routine COVID-19 tests, however, after showing minor symptoms, he underwent an additional test this morning that returned a positive result.

Roberts is feeling fine, but will now isolate himself for the required 10-day period per UK national guidelines, while supporting ground operations remotely this weekend.

Team Principal Dave Redding and the car’s Chief Design Engineer Adam Carter will assume their responsibilities in Turkey.

Simon has not had close contact with any other members of the racing team and they will all continue to operate at the track as planned.

Williams F1 Team has reiterated that it has been engaging in a robust testing plan, in addition to complying with established FIA guidelines for COVID.
