Wizz Air has announced the opening of its second base in the UK. It will install one Airbus A320 at Doncaster Sheffield Airport in Yorkshire and open seven new routes.
Wizz Air has been flying to the airport in central England for fourteen years and currently offers ten connections. It will increase the number of routes to a total of seventeen.
The new lines will connect Doncaster Sheffield with the Portuguese Faro, Alicante and Malaga in Spain, Larnaca in Cyprus, Lublin in Poland, Šučava in Romania and Košice in Slovakia. Flights to new destinations will start at the end of October, in the case of Košice the connection is scheduled twice a week on Friday and Monday. The flight departs from Great Britain at 5:10, and departs from Košice at 9:10. Wizz Air is currently flying from Košice to London.
According to Wizz Air, the establishment of the base will bring 36 new jobs directly for Wizz Air, another 110 will be created indirectly by suppliers. Wizz Air will already have a total of eleven aircraft in the UK, its main base is Luton Airport.
