The former India player Yuvraj Singh has questioned how the management of the Indian team handled the number 4 in the recent past.

After the exit of the India in the 2019 World Cup, questions were raised about the vulnerability of the average Indian order and the enigma on the number 4 position persists. They tried several players on the spot, but no one was able to trace his name to the place.

India finished the group stages of the tournament at the top of the points table but failed to pursue a goal of 240 shots in the first semi-final against New Zealand in Manchester on Wednesday.

"The management of the team should have governed someone: if someone was failing at number 4, the management of the team would have to tell that player who would play the World Cup. Like in the 2003 World Cup, we were playing in New Zealand before of the tournament, everyone was failing, but the same team played in the World Cup, "Yuvraj told TOI.

"It was disappointing to see what they did with Rayudu, he was in the running for the World Cup, he ran in New Zealand but after three or four bad innings he fell," added Yuvraj. "And then came Rishabh (Pant) and left: if No. 4 is a crucial position in ODI cricket, if you want someone to do well in that position, you will have to return it if you can't do well all the time "he said.

Yuvraj Singh was the main man of India in 4th place and had helped the Indian team to become two-time world champion, with his businesses with the bat.

K.L. opening test Rahul was named the number four by the leadership of the Indian team in the World Cup although the selectors led by MSK Prasad declared that the star Vijay Shankar was chosen for that place for the main event.

After Shikhar Dhawan's injury, the management of the team decided to bring Rahul as the opening. And when Shankar was excluded, Mayank Agarwal flew into the open to enter the middle order.
