WWE Monday Night RAW # 1408
Location: WWE Performance Center Orlando, Florida, USA
First broadcast: May 18, 2020
At the beginning of today’s show we see a review of Becky Lynch’s career, with clips of a young Becky Lynch, the 2019 Royal Rumble Match and the main event of “WrestleMania 35” being recorded. Then we see again how Becky announced her pregnancy and Asuka presented the WWE RAW Women’s Championship, which she won at “Money in the Bank”.
After the usual intro, Tom Phillips explains the new rules for “brand-to-brand” invitation. Accordingly, in today’s main event WWE Champion and RAW superstar Drew McIntyre and SmackDown superstar King Corbin will meet.
Charly Curuso stands in the ring and welcomes Randy Orton for an interview. She clarifies once again that a match between Orton and Edge could be the best wrestling match ever. Then she asked Orton about his challenge last week. Orton admits that Edge was the better man at Wrestlemania 36. Nevertheless, he is sure that he can defeat Edge. He doesn’t need chairs, tables, ladders or a last man standing match. Orton explains why Edge didn’t take up the challenge. Edge would be scared. He fears a match with Orton. With these words, Edge comes to the ring and explains that he will not go into Orton’s “chess game”. Unlike Orton, Edge had to work hard to get into the WWE. Edge had saved his money watching the shows as a kid and it was he who shed tears when he won the Intercontinental Championship for the first time. According to Edge, Orton doesn’t love sports. He was put in front of everything. Randy, on the other hand, just wants to know if Edge accepts the challenge, which Edge affirms. Orton then leaves the ring with a grin. Edge and Randy Orton will meet in “Backlash” in the best wrestling match ever.
We take a look at last week’s team match between Aleister Black & Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins & Murphy as well as the scenes in the treatment room. Murphy then meets Seth Rollins in the backstage area, who explains that he had a revelation. He would like to enlighten Murphy on a short walk through the Performance Center.
In the ring, Seth Rollins explains that sometimes you have to lose something to end up being the big winner. When he lost to Drew McIntyre on Money in the Bank, he fell into a deep, dark hole. But without this darkness there would be no light. And now he sees this light better than ever. He owes this to a man: Rey Mysterio. Some people will argue that what he did to Rey Mysterio is inexcusable. But Rey was a necessary victim so that he can continue to be the leader he is now. What happened to Rey was luck in misfortune, which is why he comments on the scenes from the previous week with a “please”. He is interrupted by Humberto Carrillo, who makes it clear that no one will believe Seth. As for many other people, Rey Mysterio was a hero to him, while Seth is just a coward. He wants to confront Seth in the ring, but Murphy stands between the two. Seth explains that he is not here to fight. Murphy already has a match against Aleister Black today, but since he’s already wearing his ring outfit, he won’t object to a second match. With a smile, Murphy confirms Seth’s words.
Empty arena match
Murphy won against Humberto Carrillo via pin under Murphy’s Law.
Match time: 03:48
After the match, Murphy launches another V trigger on Humberto Carrillo. Before he can do any more damage, Aleister Black rushes to the ring and a brawl breaks out. Before Black Murphy can strike down with the Black Mass, Murphy & Seth Rollins retire.
In the backstage area, a King Corbin employee is folded up because the king has not been assigned a changing room. Then he complains to a referee that nobody kneels in front of him and that he has to get his own food. When he wants to talk to him about his match against Drew McIntyre, the advertisement goes live.
In a recorded promo, Liv Morgan explains that her mother is her greatest role model. There were times when her mother had no work and no savings, yet she never gave up. Liv competed against Charlotte Flair a few weeks ago. Although she couldn’t win, she still learned that she is like her mother. She will never give up and one day secure the WWE RAW Women’s Championship.
NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair goes to the ring and declares that she is the hardest working person in the company as she currently appears in all three brands. She knows that Ruby Riott has something to tell her, so she should just come to the ring. Ruby comes out and the two have a star down. Meanwhile, the commentators announce that Ruby and Charlotte will now meet in a match.
(Non-Title) Empty Arena Match
Charlotte Flair won against Ruby Riott via submission in Figure 8.
Match time: 03:53
Charly Caruso now wants to interview Bobby Lashley, but this is quickly prevented by MVP. MVP explains that they have no business together, as Lashley only looks after clowns like R-Truth and his wife Lana. For this comment, Bobby wants to go straight to MVP, but he makes it clear that he doesn’t want to end up in Full Nelson. Instead, he asks how effective this Full Nelson could be against a WWE champion. He also wonders if Lashley even thinks of this title after having his last chance of it 13 years ago. Maybe Lashley just doesn’t need trophies anymore because he already has a “Trophy Wife”. Lashley is annoyed by MVP, whereupon he withdraws.
The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) are approaching the Viking Raiders ax throwing competition. Erik, Ivar and their Viking friends warmly welcome the WWE RAW Tag Team Champions and present a guest gift – a fire that creates smoke. Angelo Dawkins wants to explain to the Viking Raiders that their catch phrase “We want the Smoke” is not to be taken literally, but Montez Ford explains to his friend that it would not be wise to refuse a gift that comes from Vikings who have axes in theirs Hold hands. Montez thanks for the gift and Ivar shows a few training throws. Ford then wants to retire as soon as possible, but Angelo makes it clear that they will win the competition.
Kairi Sane is in the ring and welcomes us to the Championship Celebration. WWE RAW Women’s Champion Asuka comes out and thanks her friend for the flowers. She speaks in her mother tongue about winning the title. Kairi Sane responds to Asuka’s success and shows pictures that show Asuka as NXT Women’s, SmackDown Women’s, WWE Women’s Tag Team and as RAW Women’s Champion. Now she wants to play something on her flute, but the two are interrupted by Nia Jax. Nia claims there is nothing to celebrate as Asuka has been given the title. Asuka is just a transitional champion and will soon be replaced by her. And once Nia is champion, there will be a real party. And since Nia is so threatening, Asuka attacks her and takes her out of the ring with the Running Hip Attack after a few seconds.
King Corbin is interviewed by Charly Caruso about his match against Drew McIntyre today. Corbin explains that he chose this match. He’s had McIntyre on his shoulders for over a year, so he knows how dangerous Drew can be. But he also knows where Drew’s vulnerabilities are, which is why he will defeat him today. The next meeting of the two will then take place in the WrestleMania Main Event, where Corbin will win the title. We see Drew McIntyre watching the interview on a screen.
Kevin Owens will return today with his “Kevin Owens Show”. Zelina Vega, Andrade, Austin Theory & Angel Garza will be his guests.
Before the next match, R-Truth challenges Tom Brady again.

Bobby Lashley won against R-Truth via submission in Full Nelson.
Match time: 02:24
MVP enters the stage and applauds his former Beat Down clan colleague. Meanwhile, Lana tosses tools around the area in the backstage area.
Asuka & Kairi Sane celebrate in the backstage area before they part ways. Nia Jax watches the two in the background.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross (c) won against The IIconics (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce) via DQ after Peyton Royce, as an illegal partner, repeatedly sent Alexa Bliss to the corner of the ring, ignoring the referee’s instructions.
Match time: 02:44
Kairi Sane plays her flute again and is attacked by Nia Jax.
Elsewhere, Billie Kay gets upset about Peyton Royce because this match was her big chance. The dispute escalates to the point where Billie Peyton is slapped in the face. Shortly afterwards, both women burst into tears, apologize to each other and hug.
Asuka takes care of her friend and goes in search of Nia Jax. After a commercial break, Asuka confronts Nia Jax, but she is not interested in having a coffee. For this, she is switched off again by Asuka.
Empty arena submission match
Shayna Baszler won against Natalya via submission in the Kirifuda Clutch.
Match time: 03:48
While the ring crew is already building the set for the “Kevin Owens Show”, Natalya still has to deal with the defeat. Out of sheer anger, she throws the set that has just been put out of the ring.
The host of the “Kevin Owens Show”, Kevin Owens, goes to the ring and explains his long absence. He talks about his match with Seth Rollins on “WrestleMania 36”. Even if he could win this match, his body was very “banged up” afterwards, which is why he needed a break. But he makes it clear that he is back and with it the “Kevin Owens Show”. Kevin Owens also immediately greets his guests: Andrade, Zelina Vega, Angel Garza and Austin Theory. Once in the ring, Zelina describes how disgusted she was by Kevin Owens. She brings her partners in the ring over while Kevin stands on the ringapron watching from outside. Zelina wants respect from Owens and asks him why he doesn’t ask his questions in the ring, but only from the apron. Owens describes that things have not ended well for him lately when he’s outnumbered in the ring. He also makes it clear that they still need space in the ring because he will greet another guest. With these words Apollo Crews comes to the ring and goes straight to Andrade. The segment ends with a brawl between all parties.
Empty arena tag team match
Kevin Owens & Apollo Crews won against Andrade & Angel Garza (w / Zelina Vega & Austin Theory) via pin by Apollo Crews against Angel Garza after the spin-out power bomb, before Austin Theory accidentally knocked Angel Garza out with a forearm.
Match time: 02:52
After the match, Andrade & Austin Theory attack Angel Garza and take him out of the ring. Zelina Vega also slaps her former protege before the theory is thrown against the ring barrier.
A beaming Charly Caruso now greets Drew McIntyre for an interview. The WWE Champion explains that every Monday is perfect for hosting a Claymore party. The brand-to-brand invitations will enable many dream matches in the future. He will play his personal dream match today when he gets into the ring against King Corbin. He knows that Corbin will do anything to win. But he also has a Claymore Kick for him.
Back to the happy ax throwing. Both Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins don’t hit the target. Dawkins even sinks his ax in a water barrel, whereupon the Vikings plunge into street profits. However, the Viking Raiders can prevent this.
Empty arena match
Aleister Black won against Murphy (w / Seth Rollins) via DQ after Austin Theory attacked Aleister Black.
Match time: 02:35
– Austin Theory made the Murphy and teamed up with Seth Rollins after being attacked on the ring area.
Erik is now presenting the rules of the ax throwing competition. Each team can throw ten times, but only the Bulls Eye counts as a hit. After the first 19 throws, the Viking Raiders lead 10-0. Montez Ford hits the Bulls Eye with his last throw and the four wrestlers celebrate this success together until two police officers appear. Apparently an ax from the Street Profits landed in the windshield of the police car. Angelo Dawkins makes it clear that they are out of the question as perpetrators, since they can aim extremely well. He proves this by throwing an ax at the Bulls Eye while standing with his back to the target – and hitting.
In an interview with Charly Caruso, Apollo Crews explains that the last three weeks have been the longest of his life. However, he found that he only needs one chance, which is why he will challenge Andrade for his WWE United States Championship next week. Zelina Vega shows up and explains that crews have two options: either he forgets the title match and runs away with his healthy leg or he will never be able to run again after Andrade is done with him. Apollo is not intimidated by this, however, and makes it clear that Andrade should be in top shape next week. He comments on Andrades’ absence that he is probably afraid of getting another slap in the face by crews. Crews promises to secure the United States Championship next week.
The female policewoman looks at the Viking Raiders and the Street Profits. Then she explains that a warning is enough in this case because Ivar looks cute – unlike Erik.
Before the main event can start, Bobby Lashley and MVP enter the stage. They make it clear that Bobby Lashley will soon secure the WWE Championship.
(Non-Title) Empty Arena Match
Drew McIntyre won against King Corbin via pin after the Claymore Kick.
Match time: 09:09
– This was the first and only match on the show to break the 4 minute mark.
The show comes to an end with a star-down between Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley …
