A Wisconsin parent was cited for disorderly conduct after police stated he walked onto a youth football field and deliberately tripped a 9-year-old player who was racing toward the end zone.
Incident Details and Police Response
Video recorded by a spectator captured an adult entering the field and extending a leg as the Case Eagles player ran down the sideline, sending both the child and the man to the ground. According to WTMJ, coaches informed officers that the man had grown angry over a play before stepping onto the field. Mount Pleasant police identified the adult as a 41-year-old parent connected with the visiting team. Authorities stated the child was not injured in the collision.
Officers located the man during a subsequent traffic stop. Police reported that he cooperated, admitted to tripping the player, and acknowledged that his behavior was wrong. He received a disorderly conduct citation and was released. According to WFRV, authorities did not publicly identify him. WTMJ reported that police reviewed whether to refer the incident for a physical abuse of a child charge, but determined the criteria were not met because the boy was unhurt. No additional charges had been announced as of August 28.

Case Eagles head coach Channing Schultz, who was away at the time of the game, stated that parents quickly alerted him and shared the video footage. Schultz told FOX 6 Milwaukee that the man appeared intent on causing harm, noting, “He was so committed and determined to hurt—he wanted to hurt him. He had nothing but intent.” Schultz added that the 9-year-old player quickly got back up and was doing well, describing him as a hardworking and naturally talented athlete.
Claire Bernal, a Case Eagles parent who witnessed the event, told WISN that the adult’s actions were alarming and stressed that children deserve to participate in youth sports without fear of adult interference.
Team and League Disciplinary Actions
Following the incident, league representatives and team officials took swift disciplinary action. According to WISN and FOX 6, the parent was banned from the team, and the Milwaukee Colts organization was issued a fine. Coach Schultz stated that he believes the individual should receive a permanent ban from all youth sporting events. The Eagles and Colts were scheduled to play each other again two weeks after the incident, prompting Schultz to seek safety assurances for his players ahead of the rematch.
