Italian Skiers Prepare for World Cup Finals in Norway

A total of 19 Italian skiers will compete in the finals of the 2025-2026 Alpine Skiing World Cup, scheduled to take place on the Norwegian snow of Kvitfjell (speed events) and Hafjell (technical events) from Thursday, March 19th to Wednesday, March 25th.

Elite Competition

The final stage of the World Cup is reserved for the top 25 skiers in each specialty ranking, with additional wild cards awarded to Olympic gold medalists from the Milan Cortina Games and reigning junior world champions.

Men’s Team

Nine Italian men will be in action:

  • Downhill: Giovanni Franzoni, Dominik Paris, Florian Schieder, Mattia Casse, Benjamin Alliod, and Christof Innerhofer
  • Super-G: Giovanni Franzoni, Dominik Paris, Mattia Casse, Christof Innerhofer, and Guglielmo Bosca
  • Giant Slalom: Alex Vinatzer
  • Slalom: Alex Vinatzer and Tommaso Sala

Women’s Team

Ten Italian women will participate, despite Federica Brignone ending her season early:

  • Downhill: Laura Pirovano, Sofia Goggia, Nicol Delago, Elena Curtoni, and Nadia Delago
  • Super-G: Sofia Goggia, Elena Curtoni, Laura Pirovano, Roberta Melesi, and Asja Zenere
  • Giant Slalom: Lara Della Mea, Sofia Goggia, Asja Zenere, Laura Pirovano, and Anna Trocker
  • Slalom: Lara Della Mea, Martina Peterlini, and Anna Trocker

Junior Success

Anna Trocker qualified for both the slalom and giant slalom events thanks to her recent double success at the Junior World Championships in Narvik.

Potential for Versatility

Athletes with over 500 points in the general ranking can too compete in specialties where they haven’t initially qualified. This means Franzoni and Pirovano could potentially compete in the giant slalom as well.
