New Lexus ES Set to Launch in India on March 20, 2026

Lexus has confirmed the launch of the all-new generation of its ES luxury sedan in India on March 20, 2026. The new model will compete with rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series LWB, and Audi A4 in the midsize luxury sedan segment.

Exterior Design

The 2026 ES features a more futuristic styling direction compared to the outgoing model. The traditional spindle grille has been replaced with a cleaner fascia, including a compact lower air intake and distinctive diamond-pattern detailing. A new Z-shaped lighting signature integrates the daytime running lights and indicators, whereas the main headlamp units are positioned lower down behind vertically oriented gloss-black trim.

In profile, the sedan boasts a more dynamic silhouette with a sloping roofline and a pronounced shoulder line accented by gloss-black detailing. New alloy wheel designs further enhance its sportier stance. At the rear, the ES now features a full-width LED light bar with illuminated “LEXUS” lettering, accompanied by sculpted L-shaped elements finished in chrome.

The new model has grown in size, being 165mm longer, 55mm wider, and over 110mm taller than the current ES. The wheelbase has as well increased by 80mm, suggesting improved interior space.

Interior Design and Features

Inside, the new ES moves away from the button-heavy layout of the current model in favor of a more minimalist dashboard design. A larger 14-inch infotainment touchscreen integrates multiple vehicle functions and supports over-the-air updates. The steering wheel retains physical controls and now features prominent “LEXUS” lettering. A 12.3-inch digital instrument display is also included.

Expected features include a Mark Levinson premium audio system, an electrochromic panoramic glass roof, reclining rear seats with a ‘Boss mode’, powered front seats with memory function, and a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Lexus also states the new ES benefits from improved sound insulation through enhanced door sealing and higher-grade acoustic glass.

Powertrain Options

Globally, the ES range includes both hybrid and fully electric versions. For India, Lexus is likely to continue offering a hybrid powertrain, similar to the current Lexus ES 300h.

Internationally, hybrid variants include a 2.0-liter petrol-electric setup producing 197bhp and a 2.5-liter petrol-hybrid configuration generating 201bhp. A more powerful ES 350h version uses the same 2.5-liter system but produces up to 247bhp. All hybrid versions are paired with an e-CVT gearbox and are available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Lexus has also introduced fully electric variants for the first time in the ES lineup. The ES 350e produces 224bhp and uses a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup with a claimed range of up to 685km (CLTC). The dual-motor ES 550e generates 343hp and offers a range of up to 610km, accelerating from 0-100kmph in 5.9 seconds.

Pricing and Positioning

The outgoing ES currently starts at around Rs 62.65 lakh (ex-showroom). The new-generation model is expected to carry a slight premium while continuing to position itself as a comfort-focused alternative in the luxury sedan segment. Autocar India
