South Korea Launches Spring Travel Campaign with Discounts

South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is launching a comprehensive “2026 Spring Travel” campaign, offering significant discounts on transportation, accommodation, and travel packages to stimulate domestic tourism between April and May.

Campaign Details and Objectives

The campaign, announced on March 16, 2026, aims to revitalize regional tourism following the expanded National Tourism Strategy Meeting held last month . The initiative focuses on easing travel costs for the public and encouraging exploration of diverse cultural and tourism content nationwide .

Transportation Discounts

Travelers can benefit from a range of transportation discounts:

  • Rail Travel: Discount coupons equivalent to 100% of train fares are available for those using Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) free-travel products to designated depopulation areas . Five themed train routes – including the West Sea Golden Light and Namdo Ocean routes – will offer 50% fare reductions .
  • Naeil-ro Pass: The popular Naeil-ro Pass rail travel product will be discounted by 20,000 won .
  • Air Travel: Passengers purchasing domestic round-trip tickets through Naver Flight can earn up to 20,000 won in Naver Pay points (5,000 won per person) .

Rail discounts are valid from April 1 to May 31, benefiting approximately 90,000 travelers. Air travel benefits are available for around 70,000 users during the same period .

Accommodation Deals

The “2026 Spring Accommodation Sale Festa” will distribute approximately 100,000 discount vouchers for accommodations outside the Seoul metropolitan area :

  • Rooms priced at 70,000 won or more receive a 30,000 won discount.
  • Rooms under 70,000 won obtain a 20,000 won discount.

Vouchers will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis through online travel agencies starting April 8 and can be used through April 30 . Consecutive-night discounts are also available to encourage longer stays.

Regional Tourism Support

Several initiatives aim to boost tourism in specific regions:

  • Local Love Vacation Support: Travelers visiting Pyeongchang, Yeongwol, Hoengseong (Gangwon Province), Jecheon (North Chungcheong Province), Gochang (Jeollabuk-do), and areas in Jeollanam-do and Gyeongnam can receive refunds of up to 50% of their travel expenses using mobile local love gift certificates .
  • Travel Product Discounts: Domestic travel products on G Market and Lotte On will be discounted by up to 40%, or 50,000 won, from April 1 to May 29 .
  • Sea Month Campaign (May): Coastal accommodations will offer discounts of up to 30,000 won per night, and up to 50,000 won for consecutive nights. Marine leisure products will be discounted by 30% .

Additional Benefits

Further benefits include:

  • Discounts for participants in the employee vacation support project (up to 50% or 30,000 won on travel products) .
  • Additional local currency gift certificates for workers staying in Jeonbuk .
  • Experiential programs with influencers across 25 regions .

Local governments are also participating, offering discounts on attractions and services .
