Two Teens Dead, Two Critical After Crash in East Germantown
Philadelphia, PA – A tragic multi-vehicle collision in the Germantown section of Philadelphia on Monday night, March 9, claimed the lives of two teenagers and left two others in critical condition. The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. On the 2000 block of West Godfrey Avenue, according to authorities.
Crash Details
Preliminary investigations indicate a Nissan vehicle was traveling west on Godfrey Avenue when it collided with a Honda driven by a 72-year-old woman. Following the initial impact, the Nissan continued moving and struck a parked box truck, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small reported.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered three victims lying in the roadway. A 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 19-year-old succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital. A 16-year-old remains hospitalized in critical condition, according to news reports.
The driver of the Nissan required extrication by the fire department and is also listed in critical condition. The 72-year-old driver of the Honda was transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Firearm Discovered at the Scene
Investigators discovered a semiautomatic handgun at the crash site, broken into several pieces, along with live rounds. Chief Inspector Small stated that the firearm is believed to have been inside the Nissan, as reported by news outlets. The vehicle’s license plates and vehicle identification number have not been linked to any stolen reports, but a full investigation is underway.

Speed is suspected to have been a contributing factor in the crash, according to Chief Inspector Small. The identities of the deceased teenagers have not yet been released by authorities. The crash remains under investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department, and authorities have obtained several surveillance camera videos of the incident, according to reports.
