Tallahassee Man Charged with First-Degree Murder in Mission Road Shooting

Tallahassee, FL – Gage Champion, 34, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting that occurred on February 17, 2026, in the 2800 block of Mission Road, according to the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD).

Investigators determined that Champion and the victim knew each other and had been involved in an argument prior to the shooting WCTV. Both individuals were seen entering the victim’s home on the day of the incident.

On February 18, 2026, Champion was taken into custody in Crawfordville, Florida, following a collaborative operation involving the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Tallahassee Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service Tallahassee Democrat. Law enforcement reported a significant presence in the 1900 block of Crawfordville Highway during the arrest.

Police responded to the Mission Road residence shortly before 9 p.m. On February 17th after receiving a 911 call reporting a deceased individual. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult man with multiple gunshot wounds Tallahassee Democrat.

“Through investigative efforts, including evidence collection and witness statements, detectives quickly established probable cause for an arrest,” TPD stated in a news release.

Authorities have stated that there is no current threat to the community Tallahassee Democrat.
