64 Wine: A Dublin Haven for Wine Lovers Celebrates Continued Success

Glasthule, County Dublin – Gerard Maguire’s 64 Wine, a celebrated wine shop, deli, and café, continues to thrive as a premier destination for wine enthusiasts and foodies in Dublin. Established over two decades ago, the venue has garnered acclaim for its curated selection of wines from small, artisan producers worldwide and its commitment to creating a welcoming atmosphere.

A Taste of the Basque Country in Ireland

The story of 64 Wine began with Gerard Maguire’s experience in Martel, France, where he was captivated by the simplicity and perfection of a local Bergerac wine paired with duck confit. Inspired by this experience, and subsequent travels to the Basque region of France (Department 64), Maguire envisioned bringing a similar appreciation for artisan produce and wine to Ireland. He opened 64 Wine in Glasthule, creating a space reminiscent of a small French village.

Wine Selection and Events

64 Wine specializes in wines sourced from small wineries across the globe, offering a diverse range from Portugal and Veneto to Georgia, Slovenia, the Middle Rhine, and the Margaret River. The selection includes biodynamic, organic, and natural wines, catering to a variety of tastes, and preferences. Regular events are hosted to showcase visiting producers and provide opportunities for wine education. Customers can enjoy wines in the café with a €7.50 corkage fee or choose from the in-house wine list.

Artisan Deli and Café Offerings

Beyond its extensive wine collection, 64 Wine features an artisan deli and café. The café offers a “Teacher’s Lunch” menu from 12pm-3pm, featuring rolls, wraps, and sandwiches. The atmosphere is described as a “real hideaway”, providing a cozy and inviting setting for a casual meal.

Recognition and Community Support

In March 2026, 64 Wine was recognized with the Irish Times Best Service award, highlighting its dedication to customer experience. The establishment is as well a long-time supporter of the Ukulele Hooley.

A Passion for Quality

Gerard Maguire’s 64 Wine has established itself as a unique venue in Dublin, driven by a passion for quality wine and a commitment to sharing the experience with others. The focus remains on small producers who prioritize unique, savored wines over mass production.
