Byron Bay Mansion Set to Shatter Records, Drummoyne Estate and Bellevue Hill Property As well See Multi-Million Dollar Deals
A newly constructed, four-level mansion in Byron Bay’s exclusive Marine Parade is poised to redefine the region’s property market, with a price guide of $75 million. Should the sale reach this figure, it will surpass the current record for Wategos Beach and the Byron Bay area, previously set at $36 million .
Byron Bay’s $75 Million Mansion
The property’s creation involved the purchase of a three-bedroom beachfront shack in 2014 by Scott Stewart, a partner at AJ&Co Lawyers, for $3,735,000. The original structure was subsequently demolished to make way for the expansive five-bedroom, five-bathroom residence, complete with two powder rooms.
The mansion boasts a modern aesthetic with smoothed concrete walls, stone surfaces, timber detailing and floor-to-ceiling glass offering panoramic ocean views. Amenities include a lift, a pool, multiple terraces, and a six-car underground garage, as well as a main bedroom featuring an open shower and steam room.
The listing is being managed by Will Phillips of Sotheby’s International Realty Byron Bay, who is currently accepting expressions of interest.
Drummoyne Waterfront Estate
In Sydney, a waterfront family estate named Shalimar in Drummoyne is also entering the market with a price guide of $22 million. The five-bedroom, three-bathroom property, situated on a 3015 square metre block, was purchased by funds management executive Vasudha Jampala for $15.5 million in 2022.
The circa 1900s residence has been restored and features a billiards room, a tidal harbour pool with cabana, a tennis court, and a private marina berth. Approved plans for a modern extension, designed by Carter Williamson and landscaped by Dangar Barin Smith, are also in place. The Agency’s Steven Chen is handling expressions of interest.
Recently, Drummoyne saw a record-breaking off-market sale in December, with business owners Ralph and Maria Mesiti acquiring a five-bedroom house with a pool and jetty for $28.95 million, surpassing the previous suburb record of $16 million set in 2021.
Bellevue Hill Garden Estate
A garden estate in Bellevue Hill, owned by doctor Robert Talbot, has reportedly sold for around $17 million, according to local sources. The five-bedroom, three-bathroom, heritage-listed house, built in 1925 and renovated in 1939, features terraced gardens with harbour views.
Di Wilkenfeld and Michael Pallier of Sydney Sotheby’s International Realty managed the sale, while Simon Cohen of Cohen Handler is rumoured to have represented the buyer. The exact sale price and buyer’s identity will be revealed upon settlement.
High-Profile Neighbours
The Byron Bay property is located amongst a community of prominent figures, including Rip Curl co-founder Brian Singer, Afterpay co-founder Anthony Eisen, art dealer Steve Nasteski, and Icebergs director Deke Miskin. Eisen, in particular, has been an active buyer in the area, acquiring a second property in 2023 for $23 million, adding to his 2018 purchase of “The White House” for $7.6 million.
