The 1990s pop culture phenomenon of the Italian musical duo 883 is coming back to life in Milan for a special weekend event celebrating the Sky Original series by Sydney Sibilia. Scheduled to run on October 3 and October 4, the immersive experience at La Pelota Jai Alai in the Brera district recreates the world of Max Pezzali and Mauro Repetto, offering free public access to interactive installations, music, and themed environments inspired by their era.
Reliving the Nord Sud Ovest Est Era in Milan
For one weekend, the venue at Via Palermo 10 transforms into a portal back to the 1990s, including 1993, the year Max Pezzali and Mauro Repetto filmed the music video for “Nord Sud Ovest Est.” Organized by Sky and NOW in collaboration with the ParideVitale Agency, the event welcomes visitors starting at a check-in where they take their “volo 883” bound for Los Angeles. Inside the exhibition space, visitors can take a photo next to the red Cadillac featured in the video, explore an Area Deserto featuring a Dance Cabin, and wander through a recreated Plaza Messicana complete with mariachi performers and continuous entertainment.
Returning to Pavia and the Origins of 883
Beyond the American west coast aesthetic, the Milan exhibition brings fans back to Pavia, the city where the story of 883 began. Organizers have reconstructed two environments from the series: the tavernetta used by Pezzali and Repetto as a recording room, allowing visitors to record lip-sync performances, and the bedroom of Max, equipped with a gaming experience inspired by the 1990s and photo backdrops mimicking the “Nord Sud Ovest Est” album cover. The setup relies on contributions from corporate partners including Nintendo, Dr. Martens AirWair Italy, Smemoranda, and Autogrill Italia, which serves snacks such as the Camogli sandwich.
Special Guest Appearances and Fan Meetings
The weekend programming features live entertainment and direct appearances by the cast of the television production. On Saturday at 12:30 PM, actors Elia Nuzzolo and Matteo Oscar Giuggioli—who portray Max and Mauro in the series—meet with fans to discuss behind-the-scenes production details. Saturday evening transitions into a 1990s party requiring registration via Eventbrite, featuring live sets from an 883 tribute band named Pezza Band and a DJ set hosted in partnership with Radio Deejay featuring DJ Shorty until midnight. Max Pezzali makes a special appearance at approximately 10:30 PM to address the crowd and discuss the cultural and musical legacy of the 883.
