Nine-Year-Aged Entrepreneur Heidi Swafford Launches Successful Soap Business

Pikeville, Tennessee – While most nine-year-olds are focused on school and playtime, Heidi Swafford is building a thriving business. The young entrepreneur is the founder of Still Waters and Co., a company specializing in handmade goat milk soap.

From Hobby to Business

Heidi’s entrepreneurial journey began after her brother started working in the family’s construction business. “My brother, he did construction with my dad, and I seek to do something due to the fact that it was in the summer, and construction is not really my thing,” Heidi explained. “And my parents got me soap stuff for my birthday. And after that, it was just like a hobby. And then it turned into something bigger.”

Design and Website Expertise

Heidi’s mother, Jillian Swafford, highlights her daughter’s natural talent for the creative aspects of the business. “She just really has a knack for the designs of the labels and the website. She’s so particular about every little picture and the colors and the fonts, and she’s just really done a great job of taking it and owning it.” Jillian also noted that Heidi now independently funds her business through sales.

Learning Responsibility and Time Management

Beyond soapmaking, Heidi is learning valuable life skills. “It’s not just how to produce soap that Heidi is learning. she and her mom say it’s teaching her a lot about responsibility, too,” Jillian Swafford stated. Heidi herself acknowledges the challenges of balancing school and business, saying, “Time management, because being in school and doing soaps at the same time. It’s a little bit hard. I even had to wake up early to make soap before.”

Personal Growth and Future Skills

Jillian Swafford believes Heidi’s business venture is fostering personal growth. “To the outside world, Heidi can be shy, and so watching her stretch at these events and talk to strangers and bring them into her booth and draw them in has been just so wonderful to watch her grow as a person, because those are skills that are going to take her so much farther in life than just her soap business right now.”
