Drone China Flies Near Its Territory, Japan Deploys Fighter Jets

tokyo – Japan said its military deployed fighter jets after detecting a Chinese drone airborne near the southernmost island in its territory. This incident occurred when relations between the two countries were under tension following Prime MinisterS comments regarding Taiwan.

The Japanese Ministry of Defense, as reported by AFP on Monday, November 17, 2025, reported that the incident occurred on Saturday, November 15, local time. The drone, believed to have originated from China, was detected flying in the airspace between Yonaguni Island, Japan’s southernmost island, and taiwanese territory.

“On saturday, November 15, 2025, an unmanned aerial vehicle, believed to be from China, was confirmed to have flown between Yonagunia Island and Taiwan,” the Japanese Ministry of Defense stated via X on Monday, November 17, local time.
