At the end of 2009,the then Prime minister Peter Harry Carstensen and his Transport Minister Jost de Jager (both CDU) opened the last section of the so-called coastal motorway to traffic near Bad Segeberg. In 2013,the Federal Administrative Court stopped further construction east of Bad Segeberg because it considered bat protection to be inadequate.
