UK TV series Rivals and Ludwig have scooped two of the top prizes at the International Emmy Awards.
anna Maxwell-Martin was named best actress for her role in ITV series Until I Kill You, while Ludwig, a co-production starring Maxwell-Martin, won the award for best drama series.
Rivals, a BBC One thriller starring David Tennant and Catherine Schell, won the award for best short-form series.
The ceremony, held in New York on Monday night, celebrates television excellence from around the world.
Until I Kill You tells the story of a detective investigating a series of cold cases, and Maxwell-Martin’s performance as a complex and determined investigator was widely praised.
Ludwig, a German-language series, explores the life of King Ludwig II of Bavaria.
Accepting her award, maxwell-Martin said: “This is absolutely ridiculous. Thank you so, so much.”
She added: “I’m really, really thrilled, and I’m going to go and have a little cry now.”
Other winners included The Wall (France) for best non-scripted entertainment, and Bargain (Belgium) for best arts programming.
